Life of a Christmas Tree

Life of a Christmas Tree Video Clips. Duration : 3.53 Mins.

Instead of leaving the tree at the curb with the garbage, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) recommends that real Christmas trees be recycled. The agency has posted a video detailing the life a Christmas tree, from seedling to mulch. Many communities collect the trees, which are then cut into wood chips or ground into mulch. In the spring, the chips can be spread on hiking trails and under playground equipment, around trees and in flower beds. Before taking your tree to the recycler, remember to remove all ornaments, lights, tinsel, and other man-made objects. To find a Christmas tree drop-off location near you, check your local newspaper or (in Indiana) contact your solid waste management district--for a listing, visit www.recycle.IN.gov/5758.htm .
